Lost Sierra Resin Works
Lost Sierra Resin Works was born by chance shortly after the devastating Dixie fire, which destroyed much of the forest and many mountain communities. Erik Roosenschoon and his wife have been crafting custom cabinets since 2001. A few years ago, they began a line of cutting boards using leftover scrap material and quickly found that these products were both popular and enjoyable to create.
Their family has always spent as much time as possible in the woods, enjoying dozens of camping trips, hundreds of picnics, and countless miles of hiking. When they were finally able to access the Lake Davis area, one of their favorite regions affected by the fire, they were struck by the devastation. While exploring, they stumbled upon some small pieces of charred wood that were just the right size for cutting boards and decided to bring them home.
A few days later, a cabinet customer visited their shop and fell in love with the unique pieces. This encounter inspired the couple to start milling their own lumber and participating in the local craft fair circuit. They expanded their offerings to include small tables, benches, and a variety of other handmade items.
Now, four years later, they are closing Rose Island Cabinets to focus on Lost Sierra Resin Works. Through this new venture, they hope to share their love of nature with others by creating beautiful rustic home and garden accents from the remnants of the many wildfires that have impacted their area.
