Jim Koehn is a Greenville woodworker who turns local hardwoods—often salvaged from the Dixie Fire—into everyday pieces that feel like heirlooms.

Working from his lathe, Jim transforms walnut, apple, and other local hardwoods into beautiful bowls, cups, plates, cutting boards, intricate pens, and even classic dice cups. Many of his pieces are crafted from fire-salvaged wood from Indian Valley — the same “burned cramp wood” that survived the Dixie Fire. In Jim’s hands, those scarred pieces are reclaimed, reshaped, and reborn into stunning works of art that carry the story of resilience.

Whether you’re serving dinner, rolling dice with friends, or pouring your morning coffee, Jim’s work is made to be used, loved, and passed down. Each piece is a little piece of the Sierra, turned and finished by hand.
